GCHQ (Government Communication Headquarters)
GCHQ (Government Communication Headquarters)
Not exactly your ordinary desk job

As a key part of British Intelligence, GCHQ (Government Communications Headquarters) works closely with MI5 and MI6 to combat the threats facing both the UK and the global community.

Using some of the world’s most sophisticated technology, we intercept communications and electronic signals from our headquarters in Cheltenham. This information is then turned into intelligence which helps our government protect the UK, its people and its institutions.

GCHQ is a large, complex organisation and as such needs a unique range of people and skills. Whether you work in a more traditional role like finance or administration, or specialise in linguistics or intelligence analysis, a job at GCHQ is far from ordinary.

Ultimately, the work you do will help combat terrorism, prevent drugs trafficking, counter the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and tackle international crime. If you’re a member of our 4,500 strong CESG division (the UK National Technical Authority for Information Assurance), you’ll prevent hostile forces from threatening the UK’s critical communications infrastructure.

In return for tackling this unique challenge, you’ll receive support that’s out of the ordinary too. This includes mentoring, shadowing, personalised training and the chance to study for professional qualifications. To apply, you must be a British citizen.

GCHQ values diversity and welcomes applicants from all sections of the community.  We want our workforce to reflect the diversity of our work.
